Winter Pause = Seeds For Spring Growth

A lot of us have felt something within the first two months of the year, even if we felt numb, we have acknowledged we were numb now that Spring is popping up in front of us. We may have come up with a million reasons why we felt such distinct heaviness, darkness, stuckness, and I am sure many more words you could share!
The truth is we may just have deeply 'felt' perhaps for the first time what it's like to actually hibernate as nature intended but, because it was felt, it carried an emotional attachment that was at times very hard to shake. It layered with guilt for not getting enough done, we may have felt like we were failing in someway. People pleasers may have felt the heaviness in a greater way as they felt unable to be there for everyone in the usual way and as such felt like a different person altogether!
I hope that this year we will all reflect that we are meant to hibernate and that it's okay to restore to give back the rest of the year. But, I hope next year we will collectively plan for hibernation and be so much kinder to ourselves.
This morning I was tidying up the wellbeing garden with the children at my school-based breakfast wellbeing club and we thought the mint plants we were pulling out of the ground had passed their prime and needed to make way for newer versions but, underneath the soil alongside the roots was new growth, hiding out a little longer before raising above the organic soil to share themselves. How beautiful to immediately relate to nature in that moment and to feel so reassured.
Notice the nature around you right now it's always speaking to you!
