Melaleuca Alternifolia is one of my favourite plant names in Latin, and really and truly was my very first therapeutic experience of an aromatherapy essential oil.
Back then I was a Beauty Therapist conducting a variety of treatments from waxing, to facials, lash tinting, and massage. Whilst I was perhaps the most afraid to retail Therapist I ended up achieving a retail accolade of highest seller of Tea Tree Oil in England! I believed in this oil for good reason I saw it solve many an ingrown hair and spot blemish!
Natively growing in Australia - one of my favourite countries in the world and it's leaf likened to that of Rosemary. On one visit to Australia I learned that it was used both there and in New Zealand to disinfect hospitals and thought to be of greater power than a traditional hosp[ital cleaning liquid while also diffused into rooms to support immune systems.
As the years travelled past I expanded it's use, in fact when I told my daughter I was going to share knowledge on Tea Tree she said how much she liked it as it always helps her sore throat. As a family we have applied it neat to a bite or wound, gargled with it for a sore throat, mixed it into a cream for Athlete's Foot, and applied it direct to a cotton bud to then apply to a tooth that's aching, and every time it solves the problem, fast!
I've noticed the children who attend my wellbeing clubs are engaging with it more, and have seen past it's cleaning, medicinal powers to notice how refreshed and uplifted they feel when they inhale it straight from the bottle. Autumn and Winter are great times to engage with it for it's immune boosting qualities but also for this impact on mood.
For skin health I pair it often with Rose Geranium and Palmarosa to balance a flared complexion of spots.
Lean into this clean and true oil and discover it's wonderful impact for yourself.
