Breakthrough - a rap poem for the phases of grief

Around you life gets short,
it closes in, I'm caught!
It sparks within you,
I've got to live my life for two!
Their life is gone on this earth,
it doesn't seem too long since birth!
Did they want to die,
who could want to die!
Let me breakthrough, see the positive,
I've got to get through, absorb the negative!
I've got to build up and be strong,
everyone around me for so long!
I need some space, I can't breathe,
I need love, time for the pain to leave!
I feel choked, I can't speak!
I want to scream, but I'm so meek!
I want to hide, I need quiet air,
I'm ready to face the empathy and lay feelings bare!
Then I buckle, I freeze, I'm not ready to share it all,
I take a breath and release, I share tears and fall!
I feel light, the space is free to just be,
I feel calm, yet empty and just sit with being me!
My voice is free, my heart now feels the loss,
My mind takes over, why, why, why the loss?
They're gone, I miss them, where do I look,
into my heart where all the pictures I took!
You now lay above us in the stars, or the wings of a butterfly,
You'll sparkle forever, with me, in the music amplified!
